On Fruit
Fruit is a plastic-like substance which we store in our guts. It becomes translated into energy, or pollen. We can see fruit in many aspects of our lives, bathing, grooming, making love. Fruit is often times hard to catch, as it is quite hasty in its visitations. People often misuse fruit, in which case, it is automatically transformed into waste. Fruit can also be found meditating in the woods at night under a yellow harvest moon. Harvest fruit properly, or else it will turn to ash in your hands.

There are a lot of different images in this piece. It's nice to see an exploration of a subject like this. You bring the different meanings of fruit into your piece (the thing you eat, a usually-good result of something else) and try to marry the meanings, which I think is a good metaphor to get your idea across. I'm not sure you achieve this though. I think if you connected the two ideas more, it could definitely develop into a really cool piece.
ReplyDeleteThe image that I found really interesting (and a bit confusing) is fruit as a plastic-substance inside of us. What about fruit is plastic? I think I like that image but it needs to be developed more.
I love the comparison of fruit to plastic! I immediately liked this piece when I read the first sentence. But more can be done with that. We writers tend to ignore things like plastic, or act like it's isolated from the "natural." Fruit is also compared the the spiritual, the excess, and somewhat angelic "in its visitations." I think more context might make this piece more sticky in that way stories stick to your brain. I'd like to see it expanded.
